Colorado has enacted a special enrollment period for Medicare supplement policyholders starting 1/1/2021. This special enrollment period allows clients who currently have a plan C or F to change to a plan D or G (respectively) without underwriting. Clients may switch plans either with their current insurer or switch to a new insurer.
The regulation is only applicable to clients who became eligible for Medicare prior to 1/1/2020.
Applications will be accepted starting 1/1/2021 for the special enrollment period. Proof of current enrollment is required if the client is switching plans from a different insurer. The special enrollment period ends on 6/30/2021. Any policies issued during this period must have a 1/1/21 – 6/30/21 effective date.
