Next round of 2010 in-force rate action notifications to take place in
late October

In late October, we will begin policyholder
notifications on the next round of John Hancock and Fortis policies
impacted by the 2010 in-force rate action, which will have an
effective date beginning with anniversaries on or after January 1,
2014.

We will continue implementation in Wisconsin and begin notifications
for additional John Hancock and Fortis LTCI individual policies
originally issued in that state. Read the article for

Introducing new Custom Care III policyholder statements

John Hancock is pleased to announce that
Custom Care III and Custom Care III featuring Benefit Builder
Policyholder statements will be mailed based on policy anniversary
dates.  Beginning in October,  current statements of benefits will be
mailed weekly on an ongoing basis (inclusive of all policies with

Hancock to discontinue sales of its California Partnership Long-Term
Care insurance product effective September 16th

Please note: All
individual long-term care insurance applications for CA Partnership
policies must be signed by September 16, 2013 and received in the Home
Office by September 23, 2013. Any CA Partnership applications received
after September 23, 2013 will not be processed.

Revised HIPAA Privacy Notice – Omnibus Final Rule

In January, the Department of Health and Human
Services (HHS) issued a Final Rule to modify certain elements of the
HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules, with a September 23, 2013 compliance
effective date.
